Ngā Kūaka: the inaugural Aotearoa DBT Conference - registrations now open

Kia Ora Koutou,

We’re delighted to announce that registrations are now open for the inaugural Aotearoa DBT conference, Ngā Kūaka, to be held on Monday and Tuesday 14-15th October at Te Papa Tongarewa, Museum of New Zealand in Wellington.

Our intention is to offer an inspiring and practice-focussed gathering with opportunities to connect, learn from each other, and advance our collective efforts to enhance access and equity to DBT.

Presentations confirmed so far include:

  • A forum on the dialectical balance between adherence and responsivity to our local needs and cultures, featuring session footage and an interactive discussion on what is and what is not effective DBT in our context
  • Feedback and reflection on the results of the survey on DBT cultural responsivity that many of you generously completed
  • A presentation on Tai Ki Uta, a marae-based DBT programme for rangatahi me whānau within Oranaga Tamariki
  • A lightening round on the innovations our colleagues around the mōtu and beyond have made within their DBT programmes to solve a problem with access and responsivity
  • We anticipate Zoom-based presentations from our North American Behavioral Tech colleagues on irreverence and other topics of current interest in DBT.

Further details of the conference will be announced soon.

Call for papers: If you would like to present at the conference or assist with the organising then please contact us by replying to this email or via our contact form.

We would love for you to join us in Whanganui-a-Tara in October. For more information and to register, go to the conference web-page.
